The Beebot Maze!

This Digital Technologies resource has been created to address the following Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies content descripors.

Knowledge and Understanding

Recognise different types of data and explore how the same data can be represented in different ways (ACTDIK008).

Processes and Production Skills

Define simple problems, and describe and follow a sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve them (ACTDIP010).

Digital Technologies

This resource is comprised of a unit plan with an attached task sheet and rubric for assessment. It has been created to address the Digital Technologies component of the Australian Curriculum. Within the unit, the students are provided with the opportunity to explore algorithms integrated with an explorations of how data can be represented in various forms. The unit plan includes a summative assessment piece that allows students to display their ability to create algorithms through the use of Beebots.

The unit plan not only address content descriptors from the knowledge and understanding strand and the processes and production skills strand of the Digital Technologies curriculum, it also incorporates the general capabilities of Information and Communication Technology, Critical and Creative Thinking and Literacy.

Through the completion of the unit plan and assessment piece, students will understand and be able to demonstrate their ability to describe and follow a sequence of steps and recognise how data can be represented in different ways. Students will be given the opportunity to organise data logically and design and implement algorithms as apart of the key idea of the Technologies curriculum: computational thinking.
